Plant Based Treaty Sweden works to accelerate the transition to resilient, plant-based food systems as a key climate solution.

The organisation highlights how food choices influence greenhouse gas emissions, resource use, biodiversity and public health, while promoting a broader understanding of plant-based food as delicious, nutritious, protein-rich and accessible – from everyday meals to more indulgent options – helping to overcome common misconceptions.

Its work focuses on evidence-based policy proposals for public institutions, such as introducing plant-based meals as the default option, and on strengthening food education to equip future professionals with the skills to deliver sustainable, nutritious and affordable meals. It also emphasises how resource-efficient plant-based food systems can strengthen food security and resilience in times of societal disruption.

As part of the global Plant Based Treaty initiative, we connect international research and best practices with local and national decision-making in Sweden.
