Satellite event: Keep Clean and Run 2024 - 10th Edition

The tenth edition of Keep Clean and Run, the plogging eco-marathon, has been announced with great enthusiasm. This event, organized by AICA in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, continues to promote awareness of littering through sports. The event coincides with the launch of the Let's Clean Up Europe campaign and aims to raise awareness about littering, focusing on air pollution in urban areas.

The founder, Roberto Cavallo, along with nationally renowned sports figures, will traverse 40 Italian municipalities in seven days, collecting abandoned waste along the way. The event will actively involve local communities, schools, and associations in cleaning up the area and raising awareness of the littering issue.

A focal point will be the use of advanced electronic nose technology to monitor air quality during the event, highlighting the urgent need to address air pollution.

The seven stages of the marathon will take place in seven different regions, touching their respective regional capitals. The dates chosen for the event are from April 17th to 23rd, coinciding with the Let's Clean Up Europe European campaign. Currently, the routes of the stages are being confirmed and include cities such as Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Perugia, L'Aquila, and Rome.

The event format is based on using sports as a means to convey an environmental message, with a particular focus on scientific analysis to improve the environment. Each stage begins with meetings in schools and involves local citizens, associations, and athletes in cleaning up the area. Additionally, the tenth edition focuses on the negative consequences of air pollution on human health and the environment, promoting immediate actions to mitigate this growing problem.
