Description

The Naples Staircase Festival, in its 11th edition, with the collaboration of the Secretariat of the European Climate Pact, the patronage of the City of Naples and the Municipalities 2,3 and 5, also this year is focused on the cultural valorisation and refunctionalisation of the heritage of stairs and stairways that are integral part of the urban fabric and an element capable of making the city more beautiful, attractive and liveable.
Naples is a vertical city with its hilly orography open to the sea and the gulf, a morphology of places that has characterised the urban evolution of the city centre and its upward expansion.
Linked to this form of the city are the more than two hundred paths between steps, ramps, stairs and stairways that cross Naples obliquely marking the territory and the connections between place, urban form, landscape and mobility.
The Naples Stairs Festival is a true civic festival, born from the grassroots from below, which aims to recognise Neapolitan staircases as a strong element strong identity of the city not only from a geographical-environmental point of view but also from a cultural and landscape point of view.
