Cycling 4 Climate is a foundation dedicated to raising awareness about climate change through organised cycling events that inspire action. Established in 2019 with its inaugural event in Utrecht, Netherlands, Cycling 4 Climate has since expanded significantly. The first Climate Classic in 2020 featured a 375km ride along the future coastline of the Netherlands, and participation has surged from 50 to 2,500 cyclists in the five years since then, with similar events now taking place in Belgium, France, Poland, Italy, and Switzerland.
The foundation emphasises three key elements: Climate, Challenge, and Commitment. Each route directly relates to climate issues such as sea level rise and drought, providing participants with significant athletic challenges while fostering teamwork and community engagement. Participants are encouraged to measure their carbon footprints, create plans to reduce them, and compensate for their historical emissions.
