Climate Chance was created in 2015 following the Climate and Territories Summit in Lyon, ahead of COP21. It aims to bring together European and African local and non-state actors involved in the implementation of the objectives laid out in the international Climate, Biodiversity and Desertification agendas. Climate Chance’s value lies in its capacity to create an environment conducive to accelerating climate action through three main missions:

  • Sharing information and best practices on climate action implemented at the local level by local governments, businesses and civil society organisations through our Cartography of Action, Library of Action and Agenda of Action.
  • Analysing local climate action in Europe and Africa. The Climate Chance Observatory publishes annual global reports, blogs and case studies throughout the year.
  • Bringing together various actors through the organisation of events. Climate Chance organises annual Summits in Europe and Africa to bring its community together and adopt common messages, which are then carried to international forums. Throughout the year, Climate Chance also organises eMags (webinars) on Climate Action in Africa and Adaptation in Europe and participates in local and international events.
