UGT en Verde is the Climate Action and Just Ecological Transition unit of Spain's UGT trade union confederation, which represents 983,521 workers across all economic sectors. As a founding member of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), it brings workers’ perspectives into national and international climate action debates.
UGT en Verde aims to defend workers' rights during environmental transition while promoting quality green jobs within a circular, inclusive economy. It specialises in just ecological transition, green collective bargaining, circular economy policies and climate justice through evidence-based trade union action.
Key activities include organising environmental workshops, producing research publications (such as the Green Collective Bargaining Guide and the Environmental Fact Sheets for Trade Unionists 2.00), and providing institutional representation in 13 national environmental councils (including the Climate Council and Just Transition Institute Advisory Council).
UGT en Verde works closely with a wide stakeholder network, including Spain’s largest climate coalition Alianza por el Clima, environmental organisations, civil society groups, the Rural Action Forum, and alliances focused on renewable energy transitions. Through these partnerships, it amplifies workers’ voices in European climate policy and promotes socially fair approaches to climate action.
