Description

The Soil Detectives learning scenario gives students a clear, practical way to understand how local soil shapes everyday life in their community.

Teachers can use the dedicated lesson plan to guide students through straightforward lab work and help them interpret results using a GIS map that shows how soil properties vary across the area. Students then use their data to suggest realistic, sustainable management practices for their community.

To round off the activity, students create a simple song that summarises what they’ve learned. They can do this with the help of artificial intelligence and demonstrate their responsible, creative use of technology.
