Description

The Exploring soil: A Learning across STEM learning scenario gives students an accessible way to explore why soil matters by drawing on biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

As teachers, you guide students as they examine soil composition, see how different organisms contribute to soil health and measure properties such as pH and moisture.

Using the lesson structure, you can support students as they analyse data on erosion and nutrient content, apply physics to understand water retention and filtration, and connect these findings to real‑world examples.

Through these activities, you can help students build confidence in interpreting results, applying interdisciplinary knowledge and explaining the role of soil in ecosystems, agriculture and sustainability.
