University College Dublin (UCD) is Ireland’s largest university, with over 38,000 students from more than 150 countries and a global alumni network of more than 300,000. UCD creates knowledge, empowers learning and engages with partners to deliver impact through education, research and community engagement. Its values of inclusion, creativity and sustainability underpin its role as Ireland’s global university and as a leader in addressing the defining challenges of our time, including the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the climate crisis.
Chorus is an example of UCD’s commitment to sustainability and engagement. Supported by Research Ireland, the national agency for research and innovation that promotes inclusion and sustainability, Chorus is a national co-creation initiative delivered in partnership with UCD. It combines science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) with storytelling to engage young people in learning, with a focus on climate literacy and the SDGs.
Its objective is to empower young people to develop creative skills and sustainability awareness, while contributing educational resources for younger learners. Activities include illustrated books, video workshops, collaborative projects and outreach events that make sustainability issues accessible and inspiring. Chorus engages schools, libraries, youth organisations, educators, artists, researchers and cultural groups across Ireland, and shares its work through national initiatives and European knowledge-sharing networks.
