Europe’s climate action community gathered in Brussels and online for ‘Together in Action 2026’, the Climate Pact’s annual celebration marking progress in tackling climate change and the drive towards a cleaner, more resilient Union. Participants met with policymakers, experts and community leaders; got inspired by grassroots initiatives; and explored the future of climate action from across Europe.

On the agenda

  • Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra joined Ambassadors Sara Segantin and Sasha Bezuhanova on stage for a conversation about climate ambition, collaboration, and the power of community leadership

    Policy in action: We heard from EU leaders on the future of climate policy, including Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth

  • Community members got their creative juices flowing in the workshop 'Drawing solutions: Art and comics for climate action’

    Community impact: Inspiring sessions led by members of the European Climate Pact community showcased how they’re making waves against climate change in their countries

  • Maltese duo ‘Berne’, featuring European Climate Ambassador Deborah Borg Brincat, performed their indie-electronic music, sparking conversations about climate action

    Interactive experience: Exhibitions, creative showcases and breakout sessionson climate action brought together like-minded people from across Europe

Here are some highlights: 

  • Over 800 participants joined us in Brussels for thought-provoking discussions, expert panels and interactive breakout sessions led by the Climate Pact community. Many more joined the livestreamed and online sessions, extending the conversation.
  • We heard from nearly 150 speakers from 25 countries, including 80 Pact Ambassadors and Partners, plus EU representatives and climate experts.
  • We heard from key voices shaping Europe’s climate policies:
    • European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, Wopke Hoekstra, joined members of the European Climate Pact community to discuss the state of EU climate policy and how climate action supports Europe’s competitiveness, innovation and global leadership.
    • Kurt Vandenberghe, Director-General for DG CLIMA, led a dynamic exchange on turning growing climate risks into collective resilience, highlighting how adaptation across sectors – from water and food to cities and health – strengthens Europe’s long-term security and wellbeing.
  • We heard inspiring stories of impact and celebrated the incredible work of our Climate Pact community, including at the Community Day on 23 March.
  • We saw creativity in many forms – live music, storytelling, games, workshops and exhibitions – which helped spark conversations and inspire climate action.
  • The Climate Action Village showcased impactful EU initiatives and innovative projects from across the Pact community, giving participants the chance to explore practical solutions and connect with others driving meaningful change.
  • The event in Brussels wrapped up a month of over 100 local activities across Europe, as people engaged their communities by organising Climate Action Days throughout March.
