Are you looking to level up your climate action? If so, the European Climate Pact has you covered!
From making neighbourhoods greener to covering roofs with solar panels, people and organisations across Europe are working hard to turn climate goals into change on the ground.
The question is, how can we scale up what we’re doing in our communities to make our initiatives bigger, better, and ultimately more impactful?
Some practical tips for success
So, you’re looking to take your climate action up a gear.
Start by following our five simple tips:
- Find your niche: If you’re struggling to make a difference, it might be that you’re trying to do too much at once. A clear focus helps you achieve concrete outcomes and convince others. You can always move into other areas later, once you’ve found a formula that works. So, try to zoom in on a specific area you care about and identify practical ways to take action. If you’re a foodie, why not focus on reducing food waste. Keen cyclist? Perhaps sustainable transport is more your thing. If you’re big on socialising, start with simple conversations about climate change.
- Be resilient: You’ll face hurdles and obstacles along the way, but don’t be afraid of them – treat them as learning opportunities. Try to break your project into small, manageable chunks to keep going and remember you’re making progress step by step.
- Invest in yourself: Whether your superpower is technical wizardry or amazing people skills, nurture it and put it to use! If you want to go bigger, keep on beefing up your skills and knowledge. Check out our EU Climate Action Academy, which features live and on-demand courses and resources that can help you get more confident in new areas.
- Team up with others: Many hands make light work. Get help from other like-minded people who are as passionate about climate change as you are. Then, once you’ve got something going in your own community, see if you can widen your reach by working with groups in other areas. Check out more tips on how to run a Local Climate Action Group.
- Share your successes: Whether on social media, via traditional media or even just by word of mouth, try to tell relatable stories and share results – whether through facts and figures, pictures and videos, or in other creative ways. Don’t be afraid to boast about your successes – these are the evidence that will show others that change is possible and inspire them to follow in your footsteps.
