"Walk in another's steps" - Laou Laou Open Streets event

On Sunday, 20.09, in the afternoon, in the courtyard of the Primary School of Agion Omologiton, we celebrate together with the Organisation for Positive Urbanism and many other organisations a Car-free Sunday.

The event is organised during the European Sustainable Mobility Week 2026; therefore, in collaboration with Ambassadors of the Pact, we are preparing the following actions:

1. "Walk in another's steps" - Coordinated by the Cyprus Energy Agency: Simulate the experience of the urban environment, as a child or person moving in a wheelchair experiences it, by participating in a walk-shop using a Reverse Periscope - a wooden structure with mirrors, an idea of ​​the Global Designing Cities initiative. The Reverse Periscope was designed to help adults understand the obstacles and dangers that children face in a world made for people twice their height.
2. “Our Street Needs Green!” - Coordinated by CP Ambassador Irene Andreou: A collective sensory and artistic activity for children, where, on a large piece of paper, on which a road will be constructed from natural and edible plasticine, children will be able to intervene with various natural, tactile and recyclable materials. Confronted by the fact that “our street is very grey and empty”, children are invited to add the materials to the road and create trees, gardens, parks, pedestrian paths, benches, playgrounds and whatever else they can imagine.
