Urban sustainability is the territorial response to the climate crisis, but it requires a deep redefinition of development logics. Cities, today the epicenter of risk, can become resilience infrastructures through coordinated practices of adaptation and nature-based mitigation (NbS): soil waterproofing, ecological regeneration, reconstruction of ecosystem connections. Experiences such as the green corridors of Medellín or the bathing Seine show that the transition is possible and generates environmental and social co-benefits. But we need new forms of governance, collaborative, inclusive, oriented to the long term.
This is what we will talk about, because the sustainable city is not born from individual interventions, but from social alliances, open institutions and a governance capable of making the ecological transition just and democratic.
