Towards the Civic Digital Twin of Bologna: "For an Environmental and Democratic Intelligence”

In September 2025, PianetaLab was launched as an initiative to address environmental, social, and digital challenges through local engagement, with the support of the Technical University of Munich and the European Climate Pact.

In Bologna, the project focused on the city’s Digital Twin, aiming to increase citizen participation in shaping this important tool for the future of urban life. The initiative promoted a participatory vision of the “civic digital twin” as not only a technical system, but also a democratic and inclusive instrument to support public policies and improve people’s daily lives. 

The document to be presented at the press conference summarizes insights gathered from citizens, researchers, local institutions, and three public events held between September 2025 and February 2026.
