Together Resilient in the Ahr Valley

To mark the 5th anniversary of the flood, the European Climate Pact, the Sinzig Water Sports Club WSV, the Haus der Offenen Tür Sinzig, and ADRA Germany e.V. invite you to a special summer evening at the confluence of the Ahr and Rhine rivers in Sinzig to build resilience together. 

On Tuesday, July 15, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m., we aim to create a space for connection in the wake of the flood - featuring a long communal table, music, time for conversation, and a special activity on the water.

Children and young people will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences of the flood in a safe environment and develop positive visions for the future together. The focus is on resilience, self-efficacy, and coping with the challenges of climate change; conveyed in an age-appropriate and playful manner. Activities on and by the water, along with shared experiences, aim to strengthen trust, community cohesion, and optimism.

Furthermore, our goal is to bring people together: young and old, people with and without disabilities, clubs, initiatives, neighborhoods, and anyone wishing to help shape the future of the Ahr Valley. The evening aims to demonstrate the power found in community, diversity, and mutual support - especially regarding the challenges of climate change and our shared future. Citizens will be invited to share their ideas!
