Spazio Ilisso in Nuoro will host the first Climate Refuge in a museum in Sardinia, marking the launch of a new initiative promoted by EETRA and Spazio Ilisso, under the patronage of Comune di Nuoro and supported by EuCliPa. The project responds to the growing need for safe, cool, and accessible places during increasingly intense heatwaves, and it highlights the role of cultural spaces, as museums, with gardens as places of relief, contemplation, and public wellbeing.
The strong heat waves that we are experiencing directly these days make many precautions necessary: the use of urban spaces requires refreshment places and safe spaces to cope with rising temperatures. In this scenario, the cultural spaces that are characterized by the presence of greenery, for being fresh spaces and at the same time places of contemplation, have great potential as Climatic Refuges, for the benefit of the community. With the aim of creating a Regional Network of Climate Refuges, starting from the cultural spaces, Spazio Ilisso will be inaugurated as the first museum climate refuge in Sardinia, following the virtuous examples at the international, national and regional level.
The event includes a visit to the museum spaces and gardens (the two gardens are always open to the public for free), dialogues in the garden with various experts and contributions, followed by an aperitif with local products.
