This workshop, titled “Green Information Chaos – How to Build Resistance to Disinformation,” is an interactive session designed to help participants identify, understand, and resist climate-related disinformation. The format combines a short presentation with a dynamic group-based simulation and collective analysis.
Participants will begin by exploring how climate disinformation spreads and what techniques are commonly used to manipulate public opinion. They will then engage in a creative group activity where each team will design a fictional disinformation campaign. By stepping into the shoes of disinformation creators, they will learn to recognize manipulation tactics such as emotional appeals, false balance, cherry-picking data, and using fake experts.
After the creative phase, all groups will present their campaigns, and the full audience will collaboratively identify and deconstruct the techniques used. This will lead to a facilitated discussion on real-world examples and evidence-based strategies for countering disinformation, including prebunking and debunking approaches.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- understand how climate disinformation works and why it spreads,
- become familiar with key manipulation techniques,
- feel more confident engaging in climate conversations both online and offline.
The workshop is designed for adult audiences and does not require prior knowledge of climate policy or media literacy. It is ideal for anyone interested in climate communication, activism, or simply becoming a more informed citizen
