The International Workshop is part of the Galileo Program, a scientific cooperation initiative jointly established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research.
This event will feature contributions from the coordinators of the Galileo Project (BIOMED) Italy-France, Adele Bertini and Vincent Lebreton, alongside invited presentations from leading experts.
The workshop will delve into the impacts of climate change on plant and animal biodiversity in the Mediterranean region, focusing on the recent geological past. It will also examine human responses to high-frequency climate variability and address ongoing transformations, including innovative strategies for environmental protection and conservation.
The Galileo Program aims to foster scientific excellence by promoting collaborations and exchanges between research laboratories in France and Italy.
This workshop embodies this mission by encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and building connections for future research. In-person presentations will spotlight the challenges posed by climate change to Mediterranean biodiversity, exploring these issues from a deep-time perspective to inform present and future conservation efforts.
