Satellite event: Understanding the Energy Transition: Why It Matters, How It Works, and What You Can Do

A safe space fosters open dialogue between citizens, experts, community leaders on climate risks and the significant opportunities for creating a healthier, cleaner, and more prosperous world for all. Your voice matters!

The event will be structured in two main phases:

Phase 1 - Morning Session at the High School:

The morning session will take place at a local high school, with students from the 4th and 5th grades of the scientific, technical, and classical streams in attendance. This session will include up to four "lectio brevis" to introduce the key topics of the conference and emphasise the urgency of the energy and ecological transition and implications for selected specific sectors (ex. of possible topics: how we power our homes, offices and industries in a clean world; the plastic crisis and its impacts on our seas, rivers and oceans; etc.).

Through engaging and accessible presentations, we aim to effectively communicate the importance of immediate action and inspire students to become messengers and advocates for these critical issues. While members of Rotaract and Interact will be a key target audience, we will strive to involve and engage as many young people as possible. We may also foresee the involvement of other Italian young climate ambassadors, such as Aurora Audino and Nadia Paleari, among others, who will contribute their insights and experiences to enrich the discussions. Their participation will further motivate students to take an active role in addressing the challenges of climate change and sustainability.

Phase 2 - Conference at Ca' dei Carraresi, Treviso:

The second phase will be held at the historic Ca' dei Carraresi building in Treviso's city center, (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ca%27_dei_Carraresi), hosted by the Fondazione Cassamarca and supported by Rotary funding, with additional collaboration from the nonpartisan organisation Liberi Oltre. This setting will provide a platform for deeper discussions on the topics introduced in the morning session, bringing together Rotary members, students, community leaders, and experts, citizens, to explore actionable solutions for a sustainable energy future and an economy which operates within planetary boundaries (landing zone). "Living in Harmony with Nature" will be the overarching theme.
