“The times are urgent; let us slow down.” - Bayo Akomolafe Cities are now home to over half of humanity and drive 70% of global energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. They are both places of opportunity - where resource efficiency, innovation, and well-being can flourish - and places of vulnerability, where rapid, poorly planned growth leads to pollution, health inequities, biodiversity loss, and the urban heat island effect.
The Regenerative City Café invites us to pause amid rapid urbanization, reflect on our relationship to the city as an ecosystem, and explore how inner shifts in values, awareness, and leadership can transform urban life into a force for planetary health. Join us to explore inner shifts and reimagine cities from within. We will explore and practice:
- How urbanization shapes both planetary and public health.
- Inner capacities needed to regenerate our daily city habits amidst ecological and social pressures.
- How to weave bio-DEI—biodiversity, diversity, equity, and inclusion—into city planning, governance, and daily life.
- Stories of urban forests and community dinners sparking regeneration in neighborhoods.
