Satellite event: Habitat management

We need volunteers for habitat management at Kis-Sváb-hegy protected area. The area is home to protected plant species that are directly threatened by non-native (alien) and invasive plants. These must be removed or controlled using hand tools.

We are looking for volunteers and also students completing their school community service on Saturday, November 15, 2025, on Kis-Sváb-hegy (Budapest XII. district).

Organized by Természetvédelmi Polgárőrség, habitat management will take place under the professional supervision of FŐKERT and FÖRI, in Budapest's XII. district, at the Kis-Sváb-hegy Nature Reserve.

Event date and time: Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (10:00-14:00).

Meeting point: In the parking lot at the end of Kissvábhegyi út Google Maps link.

These must be removed or controlled using hand tools. Additionally, you can expect to help gather mown hay/vegetation.

Who are we looking for? - Everyone who wants to help, especially residents of the district. All age groups are welcome, but those under 14 must participate with a guardian (parent, teacher). Students participating in school community service will be supervised by volunteers from the Nature Conservation Civil Guard, but of course, teachers or family members may also join them.

Do I need to bring any work or safety equipment, or is it recommended? - We recommend using your own work gloves, but organizers can provide them in limited quantities. The necessary tools for the work will be provided by FŐKERT, FÖRI, and MME. We recommend wearing clothing appropriate for the weather, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and using tick repellent.

You can bring your own snacks and drinks if needed; we will provide these for participants in limited quantities.
