Satellite event: Forum “Time for Action - for Climate Rights” 2025

Event Overview: The Forum "Time for Action - For Climate Rights" 2025 is part of the European Climate

Pact and will be held on April 24-25, 2025. This event aims to unite various stakeholders to discuss and advocate for climate rights, environmental rights, and children's rights.

Format of the Event: The forum will span two days, featuring morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. 

Each session will include presentations, panel discussions, group work, and interactive activities. The event will also host an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions to climate and environmental advocacy.

Day 1: April 24, 2025

Morning Session:

Opening of the Forum: Introduction to the event and its objectives.

Event 1: Stellar 1

Focus: Civil forum on climate, environment, and fundamental rights.

Time: 10:00-13:00

Partners/Co-organizers: FRA, Amnesty International, Helsinki Committee, Habitat, CID, Ombudsman, Coalition for Climate - Bulgaria.

Participants: Environmental and human rights defenders, legal practitioners (at least 25 participants).

Agenda:

Registration: 9:30-10:00

Session 1: 10:00-10:10 - Opening by Pavel Ivan, project presentation.

Session 2: 10:10-10:30 - Keynote by FRA on democracy based on fundamental rights under the Charter, climate, and just transition.

Session 3: 10:30-11:15 - Legal framework presentation by Plamen, followed by a second presentation on law implementation and judicial practice.

Coffee Break: 11:15-11:30

Session 4: 11:30-12:15 - Group work on barriers to Charter rights implementation, opportunities in the context of climate and environment, legislative and administrative changes, followed by group reporting.

Session 5: 12:15-12:30 - Closing session.

Lunch: 12:30-14:00 (Catering by Hrankoop).

Afternoon Session:

Seminar: Civil interaction for climate, nature, and children's rights

Time: 14:00-16:40

Partners/Co-organizers: UNICEF, WWF, Greenpeace, For the Earth, National Network for Children, Coalition for Climate - Bulgaria.
Participants: NGOs, activists, teachers, experts, guests (at least 25 participants).

Session 1: 14:00-14:20 - Presentation of the survey and discussion by Ivan.

Session 2: 14:20-14:40 - Legal framework presentation and discussion by Plamen.

Session 3: 14:40-15:30 - Panel discussion on best practices for involving children in NGO activities.

Coffee Break: 15:30-15:50

Session 4: 15:50-16:40 - Group work on barriers to children's participation, opportunities, legislative and administrative changes, followed by group reporting.

Evening Session:

Awards Ceremony: "Free Electron" Awards

Time: 18:30-21:00

Awards: Public Award, BlueLink Award, Special Award for Digital Communication for Climate and Environmental Policies/Advocacy.

Day 2: April 25, 2025

Seminar: Education for climate, nature, and children's rights

Time: 9:30-13:00

Participants: Environmental educators, education NGOs, teachers (at least 25 participants).

Panel 1: 9:30-9:45 - Opening.

Panel 2: 9:45-10:05 - Presentation of the survey and discussion by Ivan.

Panel 3: 10:05-10:25 - Legal framework presentation and discussion by Plamen.

Panel 4: 10:25-11:45 - Panel discussion on best practices for involving children in NGO activities.

Coffee Break: 10:25-10:55

Panel 5: 10:55-12:35 - Group work on barriers to children's participation, opportunities, legislative and administrative changes, followed by group reporting.

Lunch: 12:35-14:00

Additional Notes:

The event will include various focus groups and surveys to gather insights and feedback from participants. There will be a strong emphasis on integrating environmental and children's rights education, as well as fostering collaboration between different stakeholders. This event aims to empower participants with knowledge and tools to advocate for and implement climate and children's rights effectively.
