Satellite event: The Food Odyssey Final Conference: Learning Through Play

The Food Odyssey Final Conference is a key milestone in an Erasmus+ initiative dedicated to innovating vocational education and training (VET) in the agri-food sector. The project explores how game-based learning can equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to engage with sustainability, food systems, and climate change.

The conference will feature a hybrid morning session, open to both online and in-person participants, and an afternoon session exclusively for attendees on site. Through keynote talks, a panel discussion, and interactive moments, the event will explore how playful, digital tools can make climate and food systems education more engaging, critical, and impactful.

A highlight of the event will be the chance for participants to test the project’s co-created digital escape room, an educational experience that introduces the complex interlinkages between food, climate, and sustainability through storytelling and game mechanics.

The conference is designed to inspire collaboration among educators, innovators, and changemakers, while contributing to the broader objectives of the EU Climate Pact by advancing climate education and action in the food sector.

Notably, one EU Climate Pact Ambassador is actively contributing to the preparation of the event, and another will join as a keynote speaker, bringing further visibility and synergy with ongoing European climate efforts.

Objectives:

• To present the educational tools developed by The Food Odyssey project, including a digital escape room.
• To reflect on the promises and pitfalls of using digital resources in sustainability education.
• To connect stakeholders across education, food systems, and climate action.
• To foster dialogue that supports inclusive, participatory approaches to environmental learning.
