Satellite event: Europe Day - EU projects on Youth & Nature-based Solutions

We are celebrating Europe Day at Ribering, in Aranda de Duero, together with the City council, on May 7, sharing our experience in EU-funded projects on youth and Nature-based Solutions. We'll also have guests from Zamora & Salamanca and VET centers.

May 9 is Europe Day, a special day on which European citizens express the values of cooperation, equity, and regeneration that unite us, as well as the great diversity of ideas and ways of life that enrich us, in this great common project called Europe.

At Ribering, in collaboration with the Aranda de Duero City Council, we are celebrating it on Wednesday, May 7 at 18:00, presenting first-hand experiences in projects funded by the European Commission, led by alliances of entities from across the continent, in the areas of youth and Nature-based Solutions (NbS).

After the institutional welcome by representatives of the municipal government of Aranda, we will begin with the stellar intervention of representatives of two other Castilian cities that have implemented pioneering projects of NbS for urban regeneration with European funds: Zamora and Salamanca.

Immediately afterwards, several Vocational Training Centers from Aranda and the Ribera del Duero will share their experiences in Erasmus+ youth projects, which promote European youth mobility, knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.

And finally, NBSCLIMATE, the Aranda-based social enterprise behind Ribering and specializing in Naturebased Solutions for climate resilience, will talk about three of its main current EU projects, as well as a key

European network:

  • NATMed: European project under the PRIMA program, which promotes NbS on existing infrastructure for resilient water management in the Mediterranean region. It has pilot projects in Spain, Algeria, Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
  • NATUR-W: European project under the UIA program (Urban Innovation Action), which promotes urban regeneration by integrating the water cycle into NbS initiatives. It has a neighborhood-scale pilot project in Lorca (Spain), as well as several European cities that will seek to replicate the results.
  • CoLab Europe: European project under the Erasmus + program, which promotes rural coworking in Europe to address rural depopulation through alternative economic development models focused on collaborative workspaces. In addition to Ribering in Spain, the consortium is made up of two other rural coworking managers: Trevessu (Aurora Coworking) in Italy, and MARCA (MARCA Coworking) in Portugal.

Likewise, we will discusss our participation in the EU Climate Pact Ambassadors Network, contributing to its mission of promoting climate action at the local level (translating the Pact into transformative action), via dissemination, advocacy as well as cooperation initiatives.

This is the Europe we want. Are you in?
