Satellite event: Eucor MobiLab Roadshow 2025 - Sols vivants, résilience écologique et sponge city

The Roadshow is a three-day itinerant science–society event (October 1–3), organized by INSA Strasbourg, hosted at Les Ateliers éclairés in Strasbourg. It combines conferences, participatory workshops, artistic performances, film screenings, and hands-on experiments.

The idea is to bring together researchers, institutions, and citizens from the Upper Rhine region (France, Germany, Switzerland) to co-reflect on how to build a sustainable and climate-resilient future.

My Session (Monica Bernardi, EU Climate Pact Ambassador): I will be speaking during the interactive conference “Sols vivants, résilience écologique et sponge city” (Living soils, ecological resilience, and the sponge city), moderated by Florence Rudolf (INSA Strasbourg). Other panelists include Brice Van Haaren (ADEUS) and Christina Dreliosi (INSA Strasbourg)

The session focuses on:

• Urban resilience to climate change, particularly flood risks and heat stress.
• The “sponge city” concept, which promotes urban designs that absorb and retain rainwater rather than channeling it away. This includes green infrastructures, permeable surfaces, and nature-based solutions.
• The role of living soils and ecological processes in maintaining urban habitability.
• How cities can integrate technical, social, and governance innovations to become more adaptive and equitable.

The broader objective of the Roadshow is to foster dialogue between science and society, encouraging co-creation of knowledge and practical solutions for sustainable urban futures across the Rhine region.
