Satellite event: DIGITAL IMPACT PITCH: Discover the impact of digital & AI on our lives and planet + how to act!

ABOUT THE DIGITAL IMPACT PITCH...

This pitch was co-created by Sandra Sydow and Jérôme Vigogne, drawing on the experience acquired from the Climate Pitch (which is deployed on a large scale and has reached more than 18k participants). It is offered to the general public, universities and also to businesses to engage employees in the implementation of more virtuous practices that can, for example, support an internal strategy of the DSI or IT departments to reduce its impact.

HOW DOES THE CONFERENCE RUN?

Participants are guided through a large drawing and visuals in a fun way thanks to regular interaction through quizzes and questions/answers. This facilitates the understanding of the main issues linked to the use of digital technology providing a systemic and global vision of the subject.

The session is structured in 3 phases:

1. Understanding – environmental and societal issues linked to digital technology (incl. AI)
2. Transition – individual & collective role
3. Actions - practices towards a more responsible digital world

WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS ADDRESSED?

1. Carbon & environmental footprint including the realities and limits linked to resources, extraction, manufacturing and end of life of devices
2. Virtuality vs. Materiality
3. Rebound Effect / Societal Impact

WHAT DO YOU NEED? Your good mood ;-) + ...

• a computer;
• a smartphone to take part in quizzes;
• good Wi-Fi connection (better than a 4G, we’ll cover that too!).

Note: We made the conscious choice to use digital technology and in particular video for this session because it allows us to speak to you all at the same time without having to travel. It also supports our mission to reach broad-based awareness more quickly while trying to minimize our negative impact and maximize our positive impact.
