Satellite event: Cycling 4 Climate, the EU Climate Pact and other partner institutions start the "Glorious Glacier Ride" at Munich

Support or join the "Glorious Glacier Ride" - a cross-border, 1,600 km long bike tour from Munich to Monaco, which leads through six countries of the Alpine region and along the largest glaciers in Europe!

Glaciers have shaped the Alpine landscape for centuries and are the most important sources of drinking water in large parts of Europe. But climate change does not stop at them: In the last 25 years, the Alpine glaciers have lost almost 40 percent of their volume.

Against this background, Cycling 4 Climate, the EU Climate Pact and ten other partner institutions cordially invite to become part of the "Glorious Glacier Ride". An extraordinary event where a strong signal against climate change is set with muscle power and on bicycle saddles.

The "Glorious Glacier Ride" is a cross-border, 1,600 km long bike tour from Munich to Monaco, which leads through six countries of the Alpine region and along the largest glaciers in Europe.

During this 14-day bike tour, the "Glorious Glacier Peloton" collects donations for CO₂ storage projects and opens up space for dialogues around the challenges of glacier retreat. It starts on August 28, 2025 at Munich's Marienplatz.

Not only the international peloton, but also numerous cycling clubs and prominent supporters are expected to attend the official kick-off event, including Christian Smolka, Munich city councillor and assessor on the parliamentary committee of the Munich Greens.
