Satellite event: Climatic Walk at the Ymittos Aesthetic Forest

A Climate Walk which will take place at the Ymittos Aesthetic Forest. It is located just a few kilometres from the center of Athens and is one of the most important forest and green lung for the city. We will focus on the flora and the fauna that the forest have and which are unique. During the Climate Walk we will mention that the forest of Ymittos contributes decisively to flood protection of the city of Athens, to reducing atmospheric temperature especially during the heat waves and to enhancing biodiversity of the area. Another point that we will focus is that the forest is the perfect place for hikes, family walks and other activities. We will emphasize and highlight the contribution of the forest to mitigating the consequences of climate change and the contribution to strengthening the resilience of the city, especially now that in recent years many areas of forest around the city of Athens have been hit hard by large fires.
