Satellite event: Climate walk: steps towards a greener Brașov

What are the good measures in the city that we want protected or extended? We will walk and talk about protecting biodiversity, reducing the heat island effect, non-polluting means of transport, local agriculture and other impact actions.

Sunday September 8 from 16:00 we invite you to a climate walk where we aim to bring together the community of children, young people and adults close to environmental issues in a family friendly walk.

"A climate walk is recommended by the European Climate Pact as a handy tool for civic activation and information on environmental issues. We propose to lay the foundations of the first such walk in which to identify islands of urban resilience at the level of the city of Brașov and gather the community around the good things that we want preserved and extended throughout the city", says Sabina Baciu, director of CULMEA: Film and environmental education.

"Street Delivery is a manifesto for face-to-face human interaction, not bar to bar. We believe that every citizen has the right to enjoy a friendlier, smarter, greener and livelier city and that streets are made for people We believe that a working tool like the Climate Walk will help us to activate the local community more often in the future on various urban issues that concern us all."  Timea Honț, Cărtureşti Foundation

The walk will last 1 hour and will start from Modarom towards Nicolae Titulescu Central Park. During the route we will stop at 5 thematic points where an expert will give a 5-minute presentation and answer the participants' questions.

CYCLING (in Lupoaica): about the Velo Masterplan and urban mobility, the impact of transport on the environment - speaker Aura Petrașcu (founder of SkirtBike Brașov)

CARS (at the car charging stations on Nicolae Iorga, near the park): about electric car charging stations; electrical emissions versus gasoline, but also how this energy is produced in Brașov - speaker Mihai Stoica (2Celsius)

URBAN RELAXATION: about public spaces, the importance of common spaces dedicated to pedestrians, urban conversions adapted to rising temperatures, temperature differences between concrete areas and green spaces - speaker Johannes Bertleff (architect JB Architecture).

CITY BIODIVERSITY about the different species of trees in the park, local versus exotic species, how long it takes for a tree to grow, the story of some older trees - speaker Gențiana Albota (environmental educator)

REGENERATION: about strategies at the city, country and EU level, plans in progress, how we can follow /comment on them - speaker Leea Mihăilă (ABMEE)

Participation is free, we encourage you to join us even if you are a pedestrian, driver, cyclist or just curious.
