During this school year we have arranged 10 visits in high schools, from 01/11/23 to 01/07/24. The participants will have the opportunity to see the effect of individual global factors that influence this complex process: types of energy sources (coal, oil, gas, nuclear energy, renewables), the effect of introducing a carbon tax, energy efficiency, electrification, etc.) through a presentation of the climate simulator En-ROADS (https://en-roads.climateinteractive.org/). So far, the tool has been shown to more than 300,000 people from 150 countries, including 130 members of the US Congress, and has been translated into Bulgarian by Apostol Penkov. He will present it as the only official climate ambassador of the simulator in Bulgaria.
Participants will be divided in 5 teams (Climate Justice Hawks, Clean Technologies, Conventional Energy, Industry and Commerce, Land and Agriculture) that championed different causes. The ultimate goal is to limit global warming to 1.5-2 °C, as agreed at the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. This is followed by a presentation of each team to an "urgent UN climate meeting" and a discussion of possible options to prevent catastrophic consequences.
