Satellite event: Climate Change and Religion: Reflections and Interaction

Explore how faith and science unite for climate action. Join leading voices in theology, ecology, and advocacy at Sofia University to reflect, connect, and inspire change.

BlueLink and the Faculty of Theology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will host a one-day conference in Sofia under the title: “Climate Change and Religion: Reflections and Interaction”

During the event, scholars, researchers, experts, and advocates for climate and nature will explore the intersection between climate change and religious thought. In the context of increasing environmental challenges, the conference offers a space for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration between different domains of knowledge and faith. Using Bulgaria as a starting point, but with a view towards regional and global dimensions, participants will discuss how religious communities can contribute to sustainable solutions and ecological justice.

The programme will feature scientific findings, theological reflections, and practical examples of engagement in nature conservation.

The conference will be opened by: Mr Mladen Shishkov, Chair of the Environment Committee of the National Assembly, Dr Pavel Antonov, Managing Editor of BlueLink, Assoc. Prof. Dr Svetoslav Ribolov, Deputy Dean and Associate Professor of Patrology at the Department of Historical and Systematic Theology, Faculty of Theology, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Book Presentation During the conference, the Bulgarian edition of the book “Encountering the Mystery” by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will be presented, published by the Ruse Diocese. The presentation is held with the blessing of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Naum of Ruse, who initiated the translation of the book into Bulgarian.
