The National Event of the European Climate Pact in Romania is a one-day, in-person participatory event designed as a strategic reflection and co-creation space for key actors involved in climate action and citizen engagement.
The event will bring together approximately 60 participants, including European Climate Pact Ambassadors, official partners of the Pact, and high-level representatives from public institutions, civil society, science and education, all actively involved in advancing climate action in Romania.
The overall objective of the event is to explore how citizens can be more effectively mobilised for climate action, beyond information and awareness-raising alone. Building on collective experience, the event proposes a comprehensive approach to citizen mobilisation that integrates three key dimensions:
- knowledge (scientific understanding and climate literacy),
- motivation (values, incentives and meaning),
- connection (social relations, community belonging and lived experience).
The event format combines interactive and participatory methods, including:
- an immersive opening session aimed at connection and community-building,
- an introductory panel presenting different models and perspectives on citizen mobilisation,
- a World Café workshop, enabling small-group discussions around the three dimensions of mobilisation,
- a plenary co-creation session, focused on identifying shared strategic directions and priorities for future action within the Climate Pact community.
In the final part of the day, a closed working session will be held for Climate Pact Ambassadors and partners, dedicated to strengthening collaboration and aligning future initiatives at national level.
As the annual national gathering of the European Climate Pact community in Romania, the event aims to:
- strengthen relationships within the climate action ecosystem,
- foster mutual learning and strategic alignment, and support the development of citizen-centred, community-based approaches to climate action, in line with European and national climate objectives.
