National Climate Pact Talk

The activity is a nationwide public discussion event titled National Climate Pact Talk: What is the cost of a warm home?, held on 4 December 2025 in Rimavská Sobota (Citadela). It marks the launch of a new series of National Climate Pact Talks, building on the long-term strategy format aimed at making climate topics understandable and accessible to the general public.

Format:

The event combines expert presentations with a public discussion. Participants will be invited to engage through open Q&A, sharing personal experiences, and reflecting on challenges related to household energy use. The format encourages inclusive dialogue in a safe and non-political space, promoting constructive engagement between experts, citizens, and local stakeholders.

The discussion focuses on the social and economic impacts of home energy use, sustainable energy alternatives, rising household energy costs, and the broader issue of energy poverty in Slovakia. Key themes include:

The main objectives are to:

1. raise public awareness about energy poverty and its links to climate and social policy;
2. provide evidence-based, expert input in a clear and accessible form;
3. create an open space for community dialogue in a region where climate topics are often underrepresented but is most affected by energy poverty;
4. strengthen local engagement with climate-related challenges through factual information and lived experience;
5. support informed, citizen-driven discussion in line with the mission of the EU Climate Pact.
