Making Space, Making Change: Creative climate education in schools

How can creative approaches help young people engage with climate change and shape more sustainable futures? Four Erasmus+ projects share practical approaches and tools, followed by an exchange with teachers and educators.

Conferences and summits

A get together of Erasmus+ projects using creative, collaborative methods that help young people imagine and shape more sustainable places.

Organised by Area Europa and Cresol, this event brings together four Erasmus+ projects exploring creative, collaborative and participatory approaches to climate education:

  • Anthropo-Scene – 2024-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000252765
  • Playful-ED – 2024-1-BE02-KA210-ADU-000257987
  • ClimART3 – 2024-1-IT02-KA220-SCH-000251892
  • Climate Adaptation and Resilience Key in Schools (CLARKS) – 2024-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000246633

Each project will give a short overview of its approach, experiences and selected activities or tools, showing different ways of engaging learners with climate change and sustainable futures.

The projects explore approaches including arts and creative practices, social theatre, participatory learning, animation, futures literacy and scenario thinking. The presentations will be followed by an open discussion with participants. The discussion will focus on pedagogical approaches, methods and practical tools that can be used in the classroom, as well as the challenges and opportunities of applying creative climate education in different educational contexts.

Teachers and educators are the main target group, but everyone interested in creative approaches to climate education is welcome.

The event aims to create a space for exchange and peer learning, where participants can discover approaches from different projects, share their own experiences and learn from each other. The event will last approximately one hour and will combine short project presentations with a facilitated group discussion.

Climate Pact Ambassadors Juliana Carvalho and Jose Segarra are co-organisers of the webinar.
