Making Local Energy Transition Happen: territorial models and civic engagement

Join this Climate Pact event at RemTechExpo to explore how local actions and civic engagement can be crucial for developing Renewable Energy Communities and tackle energy poverty and how we can turn EU projects results into citizen-led climate action

  • Conferences and summits

This event aims at connecting an EU project results with local implementation. Our objective is to provide attendees - ideally, local policymakers, energy practitioners, youth groups, and citizens - with practical inspiration, methodologies, and case studies to tackle energy poverty and accelerate a human-centric green transition in their own territories through case studies and learned lessons by the project.

Topics & Agenda:

The 90-minute session will explore, through the active participation of European Climate Pact Ambassadors, local administrations and agencies, two key pillars:

  1. Tech and Territory: Integrating RECs into Local Development Discovering how to transform marginalized areas or historical sites into energy assets. We will analyze concrete models of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), featuring international and local case studies, such as the Municipality of Pfaffenhofen (DE) and the "Castello Greenhouse" urban regeneration project in Ferrara (IT).
  2. Inclusive Participation: Data and Citizens Driving the Transition Exploring how technology and social innovation can empower vulnerable groups. This session will feature the co-creation of a "Civic Digital Twin" in Bologna (a tool to map energy poverty and urban vulnerabilities dynamically) and discussions on Citizen-Led Renovation initiatives.

Join us to learn, network, and discover how local actions and citizen engagement can be the instrument for optimising the perspectives of energy communities, integrate them into local development strategies and fight energy poverty.
