The aim of the forum is to bring together local communities, environmental experts, entrepreneurs, municipal representatives, nature tourism organisations, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts in a shared dialogue about the sustainable future of the Lower Gauja territory. Particular attention will be given to environmentally responsible development, biodiversity protection, climate adaptation, and community involvement in line with the principles of the European Climate Pact and sustainable thinking.
The forum will also highlight the importance of protecting river ecosystems, promoting low-impact tourism, encouraging environmentally conscious mobility and recreation, and strengthening cooperation between communities and organisations working towards greener and more resilient coastal and river regions.
The conclusions, ideas, and recommendations gathered during the discussions will contribute to the development of the “Lower Gauja Guide”, a practical resource intended to support sustainable tourism, environmental awareness, and accessibility in the region. Participation in the forum is free of charge. Participants will be provided with a coffee break and the opportunity to engage in thematic discussions and networking activities.
The event is organised by Vidzemes Piekrastes Asociācija in cooperation with partners Jūras Zeme, Radi Dot, Latvia Water Tours, and Latvijas Dabas Tūrisma Asociācija.
