On August 7-8, "Less Light, More Stars" is an astronomical event organized by the Experyment Science Centre in Gdynia in cooperation with the Śródmieście District Council.
The event is organised around the problem of light pollution in cities, which not only influences our ability to see the night sky but also the behaviour and survival of many organisms. This year, we're focusing on our closest star – the Sun – and we'll be exploring space by discussing space technologies and solar based green technologies. Astronomical observations will be held throughout the event using telescopes. During the day, they will be equipped with a Herschel wedge, allowing us to observe the Sun.
Let's take a closer look at the total solar eclipse, which will be visible from several locations in Europe this year. We'll disassemble a rocket and learn how it works. We'll show you how you can get involved in advancing our knowledge of the Universe by participating in citizen science projects.
