Ideas and Proposals for the Civic Digital Twin

This public, in-person event shares the results of a civic participatory process on the Digital Twin of the city of Bologna. Designed as an open meeting, it brings together presentations, collective discussion, and a concluding roundtable, with the overreaching aim of creating a space of dialogue for multiple stakeholders around how digital tools can support inclusive data informed and climate oriented urban policies.

The event opens with a presentation of the ideas, questions, and priorities raised by citizens through the participatory pathway promoted by PianetaLab. These contributions relate specifically to the Digital Twin, a virtual model of the city that combines data on mobility, the environment, public services, education, and quality of life to explore possible future urban scenarios and support informed decision-making.

The discussion will then move to a roundtable with researchers (Centro Nazionale del Supercalcolo), experts and representatives of civil society, focusing on how the Digital Twin could evolve and be used in practice. Particular attention will be given to its role in climate action, and citizen engagement, as well as to the importance of transparency, accessibility as well as public value. Speakers include European Climate Pact Ambassadors Stefano Rimini, main organizer of the event and Sabina Leonelli (PianetaLab), Marco Pistore (Fondazione Bruno Kessler), Davide Salomone (ICSC, Centro Nazionale del Super Calcolo, Giulia Sudano (Period Think Tank), Fulvio De Nigris (Amici di Luca, Casa dei Risvegli Luca De Nigris), Davide Ferraresi (President of Legambiente Emilia-Romagna), and representatives of Associazione Cinnica.
