How to listen, how to talk, how to act – bringing citizens’ voices to COP

Spearheaded by the European Commission, the European Climate Pact is organising a workshop on how to communicate about climate change as part of the programme of COP26.

At this workshop, panelists including the European Commission’s Executive Vice President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, and Climate Pact Ambassadors Kai Zimmerman, Carmen Marques Ruiz, Sofia Teles, Vanessa Archontidou, and Daniele Guadagnolo discuss how the Climate Pact is encouraging everyone – from next-door neighbours through to organisations, towns and cities – to discuss the climate crisis and make a change to their lives in order to build a greener Europe.

The session will address the following questions:

• What’s the best way to listen to people’s concerns and opinions on the climate? How can we encourage democratic debate?
• What does a meaningful conversation about the climate look like? Which topics resonate with people, and which are more likely to trigger them?
• How are Climate Pact Ambassadors taking a stand against climate change? Which practical actions are they taking to make a difference, and how can they inspire others to do the same?

In addition, the panellists will highlight their experience with the Climate Pact’s Peer Parliaments – an innovative and fun way to hold friendly, productive and organic debates among friends, families, neighbours and colleagues.
