On April 27, CluBE (Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia), as a partner of the EU Climate Pact, in collaboration with the Onassis Public School - Kozani General High School, will hold an awareness-raising and participatory event in Kozani’s central square. Following an information and awareness-raising session led by the CluBE educational team, a student group of approximately 30 students will serve as a core for research, awareness-raising, and active participation among the city’s citizens.

On the day of the event, this student group will seek to raise awareness among the citizens of the Municipality of Kozani, focusing on informing and raising their awareness about climate change and the energy transition, with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to actively participate and take action within the local community, promoting responsible environmental behavior. Using structured interview questionnaires as their research tool, they will collect primary data on the knowledge base of the local civil society, as well as on its readiness for active engagement, thus interacting directly with citizens as well as with environmental decision-makers.

At the same time, the “Green Sofa” will be set up in a specially designed area. On-site interviews will take place there, where students will receive answers from invited policy makers (Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, Mayor of Kozani), as well as representatives from academia, the business sector, environmental organizations, and civil society.

Citizens attending the event in the square will have the opportunity to listen to the discussions, actively participate in open dialogues, and share their concerns and ideas regarding climate challenges and solutions. CluBE is responsible for properly informing, raising awareness among, and motivating students so that they can act as beacons of climate resilience and crisis mitigation. Furthermore, it is responsible for comprehensive coverage of the event and support for the student team during the event, as well as the analysis of the results to produce a qualitative research report as the final product, capable of reflecting the current situation among citizens and stakeholders.
