European Climate Pact Workshop at the Galway City Climate Festival: Climate Inspirations - Communities in Action

European Climate Pact inspired action at Galway City Climate Festival 2025, sparking dialogue, creativity, and practical awareness, showing communities that even small actions can contribute to meaningful climate solutions.

The European Climate Pact proudly joined the Galway City Climate Festival on 11 and 13 September 2025, themed ‘Climate Inspirations – Communities in Action’.

The festival included panel discussions and networking sessions titled ‘Experience Climate Action – The Role of Creatives in the Climate Emergency’.

Hosted by the Immersion Project from Déanta Studio, co-founded by Climate Pact Ambassador Gabriel Mullarkey, the panel brought together experts from academia, conservation, digital arts, and creative climate action. Gabriel and fellow panellists shared insights on how creativity can spark meaningful action on climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation.

Ambassador Lydia Cumiskey, Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at University College Cork, also contributed to the panel by highlighting the role of higher education in driving resilience and adaptation.

The second day focused on interactive workshops where the public engaged with creatives and climate experts from across Ireland. Sessions included immersive experiences, sustainable creative practices, and designthinking activities on climate mitigation.

Ambassador Lydia led a standout workshop on participatory creative 3D flood mapping, helping participants explore Galway’s flood challenges while creating awareness through art.

The Pact’s tent attracted wide interest, including a visit from the Lord Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Mike Cubbard. The Councillor was happy to learn about the Pact and its contributions in Ireland and thanked the Pact for being a part of the festival. The Pact’s involvement sparked dialogue, creativity, and practical awareness, showing communities that even small actions can contribute to meaningful climate solutions.
