This summer, Munich faced its first water restrictions. At the same time, 50,000 Munich residents voted in favor of a citizens’ petition that could bring up to 15,000 trees to the city.
How can the major challenges of our time - climate crisis, resource consumption, and societal polarization - be translated into effective action along the Isar River?
How can knowledge, strategies, and ideas become concrete steps for businesses, municipalities, and society - both in Munich and across Europe?
The Earth for All Germany Salon Munich brings together three perspectives to address this: A keynote by the Wuppertal Institute explains the why and the possibilities, a hands-on workshop focuses on the how in practice, and finally, people come together to collectively shape a better future. The starting point is “Earth for All Germany”, the current update to the Club of Rome’s report.
The authors show: A sustainable, just, and livable future is possible—if we now combine and resolutely pursue the necessary societal and economic turnarounds.
Climate protection, for example, requires parallel efforts to combat inequality and promote a circular economy. Prof. Dr. Peter Hennicke, co-author of Earth for All Germany, member of the Club of Rome, and former President of the Wuppertal Institute, and Jacqueline Klingen, co-author of Earth for All Germany and researcher at the Wuppertal Institute, will present key insights from the report and highlight which levers for successful transformation are particularly effective today.
Next, it gets practical: In an implementation-oriented workshop, participants will explore how necessary changes for Munich can be set in motion and how ideas can become impactful reality. The themes and turnarounds from Earth for All and Munich Climate Week provide an inspiring framework, while also leaving room for participants’ own ideas and concrete projects. Bert Odenthal, communication expert, will demonstrate how design creates orientation, connects perspectives, and enables collective action.
The focus is not on the perfect solution, but on the next concrete step: action. Afterward, the European Climate Pact invites attendees to refresh, engage in conversation, and forge new connections.
An open stage offers space for impulses and spontaneous contributions on the question: How - and with whom - can we collectively create a good future, especially with more climate protection?
Participants will leave with new inspiration, valuable contacts, and a personal future map: a visualized idea, a concrete next step, and guidance to move forward immediately. Not perfect. But concrete. Not someday. But tomorrow. For a sustainable, just, and livable future.
