Discussion "Multi-species city - what is it and who needs it?" are organised during conversation festival “Lampa 2026” in Cēsis town, Latvia.
About the discussion:
- Why is the diversity of fauna in cities a value, why should it not be fought?
- What do we gain from it?
- And at the same time - why and in what ways should we increasingly educate the public about those living next to us in cities - from hedgehogs to bats, from bumblebees to rats.
This will be a conversation not only about a multi-species city as a value, but also about how to coexist with other species in cities even when things are not going "as planned". The discussion is moderated by European Climate pact ambassador Mārtiņš Enģelis.
The festival is a large-scale initiative, an open platform, the content of which is made up of more than 300 organizations and active individuals, working together to create a place to exchange opinions in a free, relaxed atmosphere, and to discuss topical issues in society in a respectful and democratic way.
The Festival is organized every July in Cesis town in a central city park. The entrance is free, allowing everyone to attend any discussion or event they prefer.
