This event is part of a series of three public debates organized by REPER21 in April 2026, focusing on community resilience, with a particular emphasis on climate resilience. The events are designed as participatory discussions bringing together local community members, practitioners, and stakeholders from both rural and urban areas.
Two debates will take place in rural communities (Pietrari and Vintilă Vodă), followed by a third event in Bucharest at the end of the month. The main objective is to explore how communities can respond to interconnected climate, energy, biodiversity, equity, and geopolitical challenges in ways that go beyond mere resistance. Instead, the events promote resilience as an opportunity to improve quality of life for people and all living beings.
The discussions will start from the rural context, recognizing that some villages still hold valuable assets such as strong social cohesion, access to nature, elements of food autonomy, and active community infrastructure (e.g., the “Library of Things” in Pietrari). Participants will collectively reflect on how these existing resources can be transformed into concrete actions for building resilience, and how rural experiences can inspire urban communities.
The format encourages open dialogue, exchange of local experiences, and co-creation of ideas, aiming to strengthen connections between communities and foster actionable pathways towards sustainable and resilient futures.
