Climate Action Days: Participatory mapping of potential climate shelters

Did you, a relative, or a friend suffer from the heat last summer? Trieste is one of the Italian cities most affected by urban heat, but we can take steps to ensure we’re not caught off guard.

Join us and let’s create a map of Trieste’s climate shelters together! 

When? Saturday, March 28, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM 

Where? Largo della Barriera Vecchia, Trieste, Italy (In case of rain, we’ll meet at the Adesso Trieste premises in Piazza Puecher 9b) 

What will we do together? We’ll decide which places in our city could become “climate shelters”: cool spaces where children, the elderly, and those who can’t afford a cool home can find relief.

We’re talking about parks, gardens, but also libraries or air-conditioned public buildings. Many cities have already done this, and it’s time for Trieste to identify its own shelters to adapt to climate change.

Help us mapping the fresh places near your home: Are there places with trees and shade? 

Are there benches to rest on? 

Is there a fountain to drink? 

Why are we doing this?

Adesso Trieste and Patto per l'Autonomia accept the European Climate Pact’s invitation to participate in the 2026 Climate Action Days to raise awareness and advocate for climate adaptation. Don’t wait for the heat to arrive: come to design the city where you want to live!
