The "EUBP Talk #1: Material Solutions – Bioplastics Beyond Packaging: Construction" is a one-hour online webinar bringing together researchers and innovation leaders to explore the role of bio-based materials in advancing climate-neutral construction.
The construction sector is one of the most resource- and emission-intensive industries in Europe. This session focuses on how bioplastics and biobased composites can contribute to decarbonisation, circularity and improved resource efficiency in building applications.
The webinar features two expert presentations highlighting cutting-edge research and EU-funded projects:
The use of PHA-hemp composites with flame retardant properties for green wall applications, presented by Ivana Burzic (Wood K Plus / ATRIUM project) Biobased materials for construction, presented by Carlos Pérez Montero (CIRCE / BIOS MATER project) Topics covered include innovative material development, carbon footprint reduction, circular design approaches, and practical applications of bio-based polymers in the construction sector.
The objective of the event is to foster dialogue between science and industry, promote scalable climate solutions, and raise awareness of how bio-based materials can support Europe’s transition towards a circular and climate-neutral economy. The session concludes with a live Q&A to encourage exchange and community engagement.
