Starting in July 2026, the ban on the destruction of unsold textiles and footwear will come into force, while the Digital Product Passport (DPP) is set to become one of the key instruments of the European strategy to promote transparency and circularity across product value chains. In this context, on March, the GS1 Italy Innovation Center in Milan will host a meeting organized within the ESPR Working Table, an initiative that brings together fashion brands with the aim of supporting companies in their transition toward regulatory compliance.
The session will feature leading international experts on the topic, including the Coordinator of the CIRPASS-2 Expert Working Group on Textiles, the Chair of the United Nations Transparency Protocol Adoption Group, and the technical team of GS1 Italy.
The initiative is carried out within the framework of the European Climate Pact, contributing to the engagement of the fashion sector in the transition toward more sustainable and transparent production models.
“The Digital Product Passport represents a fundamental tool to support the circular transition of the fashion industry, by enabling reliable data to be available across the entire product lifecycle,” says Martina Schiuma, EU Climate Pact Ambassador for Italy and Head of Global Strategy and Partnerships at Ympact.
“Through the ESPR Working Table, we aim to create a concrete working environment where companies can prepare for the new data infrastructures required by European regulation, moving from the understanding of regulatory requirements to their operational implementation.”
The initiative is coordinated by Ympact, which - through its role as administrator of the Expert Working Group 3 for textiles on the circular-data.org platform—supports companies in aligning with the emerging technical framework and in defining the data flows required to meet the regulatory requirements of the ESPR.
