This activity is part of The Tipping Point programme, an educational initiative running throughout the school year that connects professionals and alumni of the Onassis Scholars’ Association with schools. As a mentor in the programme, I select the participating schools and organise mentoring and discussion sessions that take place on different dates, mainly online, including sessions delivered during March through The Tipping Point platform.
The sessions introduce students to the concepts of sustainability and climate action, supporting their understanding of the climate crisis and its environmental, social and economic dimensions. Through open dialogue, real-life examples and interactive discussion, students explore how climate action is applied in practice, including across different industries and sectors.
A key focus of the activity is to inform and inspire young people about study paths and career opportunities related to sustainable development and climate action. The objective is to strengthen climate literacy, encourage critical thinking, and empower students to see themselves as active contributors to a more sustainable future I am implementing the initiative through The Tipping Point, an educational mentoring programme that connects professionals with schools in Greece and abroad, with the aim of helping students explore career paths and engage with real-world topics through dialogue with mentors. I have been a mentor for approximately 6 years, and I have been appointed as a member of the Onassis Scholars’ Association which I am an alumni.
As a mentor in the program, I organise and deliver mentoring sessions with secondary schools (especially schools that are in remote or rural areas of the country and sometimes abroad). During March 2026, until now, I have scheduled a series of online mentoring dialogues with students and teachers focusing on climate change, sustainability and related study and career pathways.
Confirmed sessions include:
- EPAL Neapoli, Crete – 4 March 2026
- Model Gymnasium of Zosimaia School, Ioannina – 6 March 2026
- DIMOS – General Lyceum of Xanthi – 27 March 2026
Each session typically lasts 40-50 minutes and follows an interactive format including:
- A short presentation introducing climate change, sustainability and the concept of sustainable development
- Discussion of how climate action is applied in practice across different sectors and industries
- Exploration of academic fields and career paths related to sustainability and environmental challenges
- Open dialogue with students, where they ask questions and discuss their ideas and concerns about climate action and their future studies
The objective of these sessions is to strengthen students’ climate literacy, encourage critical thinking, and empower young people—especially those in geographically remote areas—to understand how they can contribute to a more sustainable future through both everyday actions and future career choices.
Additional mentoring sessions are currently being scheduled during March with other schools through The Tipping Point platform (I am planning at least two additional sessions).
