KC PRIESTOR is a community centre located in the small industrial town of Sereď in south-western Slovakia. It was established in 2015 in response to the limited opportunities – particularly for young people – for personal development, informal education, civic participation and access to modern culture.
The KC PRIESTOR team works to revitalise the town by supporting young people and activists from the non-profit sector. The centre cooperates closely with the local municipality and the Trnava Self-Governing Region, and collaborates with numerous non-governmental organisations at regional, national and international level. Its work is built on long-standing partnerships, while also drawing inspiration from European cooperation, notably through the Erasmus+ programme.
KC PRIESTOR promotes community-based living and creates inclusive spaces for young people, their parents, and anyone interested in strengthening neighbourhood life in Sereď and the wider Trnava Region.
Its main initiatives include:
- Teen Meetups, a safe space for young people to meet;
- Engaged Sereď, a platform for youth participation through a youth parliament;
- EmpowerHer, a programme supporting young women;
- VATA, a cultural space;
- Infopoint Sereď', a hub for active local residents; and
- a volunteer programme that supports people in becoming engaged members of the local community.
