Science-based climate target’s guide for cities is a technical guide bringing extensive and tailored detail on how cities can set a science-based target. The guide helps cities to understand what a science-based target for cities is and guides them in choosing a methodology for setting an interim science-based target by 2030 and a net zero target for 2050. It also explains how to join the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) Race to Zero.
The Pact’s North Star pledges for cities are based on the criteria outlined in this guide, therefore it is an essential document to offer pledgers. It provides background information on the principles of science-based targets for cities as well as encourages cities to take on ambitious targets that match their capacities.
The guide is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese.
